Sarah & Brant & Romance in the Rain!

February 8, 2010 |

A couple of weeks ago I had the honor of photographing Sarah and Brant’s wedding.  It was a crazy day!  And man I mean it was a RAINY winter day, but like I overheard one of Sarah’s family members say “Sarah brought enough sunshine for the whole wedding day!”  And despite all the rain both Sarah and Brant’s love and joy brought all the light we needed!  It was also an awesome opportunity to stretch myself and try some new off-camera lighting and unlikely locations that kept us out of the rain.  All in all I think it was the wedding of Sarah’s dreams… she was a princess and she married her prince.  Yes, cheesy but yeah that is just Sarah.  Now onto the wedding preview.

The Dress!

Oh yes! Sarah rocked her hot pink Betsy Johnson heels under her wedding dress!  Bridal Barbie even showed up in her pink wedding shoes too… check out the detail collage.

blog_0002All the ladies getting dolled up!

I just love this one of Sarah! She is always all smiles so it was fun for me to capture a serious pose from her.  What a radiant bride.

Sarah’s engagement ring was so beautiful on its own, so she and Brant decided to not do left handed band…instead Brant designed a right handed ring for her to wear! It is beautiful!

Sarah & Brant met working for the same company, Tom James. So it was only fitting that  the handsome groom was decked out in his own Tom James suit….he even had his wedding date monogrammed inside of his jacket! (also in the detail collage)

Some of the wedding details I mentioned above…Including her fabulous flowers by the amazing Allison Lucas/478.719.4541 (and Carmen Johnson with Nectar & Company)

In keeping with her purple and gold theme…Sarah is a lover of shoes and so she gave all of her bridesmaids gold shoes as their bridesmaid gift.  They were adorable!  Oh I also loved the peacock feathers in her hair and the lovely earrings and bracelet that she borrowed from her dear friend Angela. Check out Barbie!

Sarah and Brant’s first look on their wedding day.  I posted my fav on their first blog post ***HERE***

So sweet… sometimes you have got to get a little wet to get the shot…and it is totally worth it!

blog_0013blog_0014blog_0015

Aren’t they an adorable couple!?

blog_0016

Oh girl, those shoes are sexy!

blog_0017blog_0018

We managed to get a couple of outside shots even with the rain and I love how you can see the droplets falling from the top of the church.

blog_0019blog_0020

Again… I think the rain drops added so much…

blog_0021

Another fun thing I got to play with because of the rain was  off-camera lighting…

blog_0022

This is the covered passage between the church and the Sunday school building and so after I cleared all the other vendor’s cars out of the alley we took some of my fav photos of the day.  It was a good thing that Brant had some many groomsmen to move around the couch for us… I just love these.

1267-011609-sarah-brant-weddingChip Miller is not only the father of the bride, but he is also the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Macon, GA.  Since there were lots of candles and kindling around he was at the ready to save the church in case of fire!

Down the aisle.

In addition to the craziness of the weather, one of the groomsmen fainted…not to worry he is fine now…but we had a little intermission….so before the bride was given away her dad left the check on the groomsman…and Brant kept his bride company.

Then when Chip returned to give away his daughter he had to break up the party so he could do his job!  It was an awesome moment!

Then it was time for the rings….and you guessed it the ring was dropped…

new-folder-1…the prayer time was a sweet ending to a perfect wedding.

Off to the reception.  Kelly with Katerings by Kelly/478.987.0806 did an incredible job with the food and cakes, while the Hollywood Band rocked the house!

Father/Daughter dance.

Again the beautiful golden cake by Katerings by Kelly/478.987.0806.

I loved the groom’s cake.  While Sarah and Brant were dating they lived in different states and would fly back and forth to see each other…their story inspired the cake.  We also used it to inspire their engagement session that if you missed earlier on my blog you have got to see – Here!

Boogyin’ down to the Hollywood Band!

blog_0054blog_0055blog_0056blog_0057

My favorite part of the day was when Brant surprised Sarah with a song he sang and played at the reception.  He sang the song “The Luckiest” by my favorite musician in the world Ben Folds.  This is also one of my favorite songs in the world.  It was the song that Koutsunis and I danced to at our wedding….it is our song…but I was happy to share with them on their day!  It was so romantic I fell in love a little!

Then it was time to go.

Through the rain and petals they ran.

Thanks so much Sarah and Brant for sharing your day with me.  It was a fun ride!  I really enjoyed spending time with your friends and family and I cannot wait to show you all the images soon!
