Liz & Dave

April 6, 2012 |

I was so honored to get to be a part of Liz and David’s big day!  They are friends of mine, and they are such a sweet couple!  I have had Elizabeth as a bridesmaid quite a few times and it was a joy to see her shine in the spotlight of her day!  It was amazing to witness the fruition of God’s goodness to her in her patience in waiting for the right man….and David is soooo perfect for her!  So now onto the photos!   I love the story of Elizabeth and David’s rings.  Elizabeth had part of their wedding vows engraved in David’s ring, which is such a sweet reminder of the promises they made each other!  And David designed Elizabeth’s ring himself.  This is such a whimsical ring.  It looks like it was crafted by elves.  And the center stone is a conflict free diamond set between two sapphires.  So cool!

Elizabeth’s hair comb and bracelet were so pretty, made by the amazing Lisa Toland!

Not only does Elizabeth have an engagement ring designed by her hubby, but she also has the ring that David proposed with, an antique diamond ring that she inherited from her grandmother.
I loved Elizabeth’s gown, designed by Jenny Lee.

It’s a two part dress that can be worn two ways!

Elizabeth and David wanted to see each other before the ceremony.  And I just loved the sweet moment they shared in the church courtyard.  Elizabeth was such a stunning bride; she took David’s breath away!

I just love when the groom is overwhelmed with emotion at seeing his bride for the first time.

They shared a sweet time of prayer right after they saw each other!

The happy couple

Looking good!

Love this one!
David was a dashing groom.  Love his ascot and tails!

The whole bridal party. . . these guys were pumped about the wedding!

Looking dapper in their tux and tails

A few more of the beautiful bride!
Elizabeth’s bouquet was so fresh and natural.  I loved how Allison Lucas filled it with flowers and fresh herbs.
Elizabeth and her girls

Allison Lucas, who created all the fabulous florals, included a special “L” pin with a cross in honor of her dad, Mack Lucas, who was Elizabeth’s honorary grandfather.  Elizabeth’s gifts to her bridesmaids were the earrings, made by David’s mom, and the cross necklace that they wore.

Elizabeth looked stunning!  Nichole Mitchell of Signature Salon did such a beautiful job with her hair and makeup.

This window light was so perfect!
Aaahhhhhh!!!  Gorgeous!

I know Elizabeth and David from our church, First Presbyterian.  It’s always a pleasure to shoot a wedding in our beautiful historic church.

Elizabeth’s nephews and niece were her ring bearers and flower girl.  Aren’t they adorable?

Love this shot through the window as Elizabeth’s dad, Mike, gives away his little girl.

Did I mention that the music for the ceremony was amazing??  Elizabeth and David’s friends and family sang and played guitars and it was absolutely beautiful.

I busted out my tilt-shift for a different dreamy take on the ceremony .

Exchanging rings
Kissing his bride

This was such a joyful day!  Elizabeth and David were so excited to be husband and wife!

Mr. and Mrs. David Milligan
Both Elizabeth and David’s parents have been happily married for many years.  What a beautiful example of lasting love to set for these newlyweds!

After the ceremony, the wedding party hopped onto the trolley to head over to the Terminal Station for the reception.

More gorgeous flowers by Allison Lucas.
“Come Away with Me,” their first dance.

Elizabeth, dancing with her daddy.

The guys in the band were friends of the groom, Marcus Reddick, Monty Cole and Darren King.  These guys could really play!  Elizabeth and David are lucky to have such talented friends!
Both the bride’s and the groom’s cake were made by the fabulous Amanda Meadows of Amanda’s Cakery.  I love the way Elizabeth surrounded the cake with wedding pictures of their parents and grandparents.  Another great reminder of the legacy of love they are both fortunate enough to be a part of.

So cute!

Instead of tossing the bouquet, Elizabeth handed it off to one of her friends, Susannah.
They ran through a mix of petals and lavender!

Then Elizabeth and David rode away in the trolley in the rain.

David and Elizabeth, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your special day!  I hope you enjoy reliving your day through these images!
