Macy & Will: Engaged!

May 3, 2012 |

Macy and Will are the cutest couple!  And I had so much fun shooting their engagement session!  I asked Macy to tell her love story with her fire fighter fiance, Will, for this blog post.  It’s such a great story, and even sweeter in her own words.  So, here’s Macy. . . “First I’d like to thank Jenny for being the most amazing, fun, creative, and genuine photographer a bride could ask for, and I am so appreciative for the friendship that has formed between us! I am also so excited for Jenny to ask me to be a “guest blogger,” and I look forward to all the FUN we are going to have, and all the stress that’s going to be lifted off my shoulders with Jenny around on the big day!! “
“Most fairy tales are supposed to start off with “once upon a time ago,” and sometimes mine and Will’s relationship feels like it has been that long, while others he still makes me feel like we’ve been dating a few weeks, with butterflies.  Technically we probably met when I was a “Harry Potter” reading nerd in 6th grade and he was the football star in 8th at our middle school in Forsyth. I know this because I have my 6th grade year book, and right over Will’s photo is “My Future Husband,” written in my sloppy little 12 year old hand-writing.  And while I sadly obsessed over him, the hottest guy at school, for the next 5 years, it wasn’t until the start of my junior year of high school that he noticed me back. We “officially” met at the turkey skeet shoot where he was working with the main shoot, and I was working at my church booth selling homemade peach ice cream. Let me just say, he had to be sick from all the peach ice cream he seemed to be craving that weekend. So his story goes (that he has stuck to faithfully for almost 5 years) is he asked one of his buddies working the shoot with him “who the hott girl with dark legs and hair was” in which they responded with my name, and he said back, “well I’m going to marry that girl one day.” Ohhh the Irony right?!”

“Our first date was at the Georgia State Fair, and we ended the evening stuck in a pond on his four-wheeler together. I remember thinking that night, that life just didn’t get any better than that. Now almost five years later, I know that life doesn’t get better than that moment…. AT that point in my life. Since then Will and I have had a million more beautiful, crazy, adventurous , fun, emotional, amazing, life-changing moments. He has been there to hold my hand in the tough times, and share my laughs in the good. He has helped me keep my head high when I wanted to hang it low, and he has kept me grounded when I get a little too big for my britches. He was there when I graduated from high school and I thought my life was so unknown, and yet he knew me and my dreams even when I didn’t.  He has since stood beside me as I started college where I am now a junior with a major in special education.”

“I have also had the pleasure of watching Will grow from a slightly irresponsible guy, to the man I now am going to spend the rest of my life with. He is sincere, loving, caring, helpful, a provider, and a God-fearing man, and I consider myself to be one lucky lady. Will has followed his dream and become a fireman in Forsyth. And although it is a pain in my side sometimes (if you know a fireman you know what I mean, it’s not a job, it’s a passion), it also something I’d admire him for. He is my hero. With his father, he also co-owns Davis Plumbing Company, and it is something he thoroughly enjoys doing!”
“We are currently building our first home, which is an even CRAZIER adventure than I think we ever could have imagined!  We are not always perfect people, but we are perfectly imperfect together.”

“Through each other Will and I have grown so close to God, individually, but even more as a couple.  A couple that can pray for each other, with each other, and can remain a together  with God being number one is something we strive to be.”

“Something that has been an impact in both of our lives was during Christmas holidays we flew to El Salvador for eight days where we ministered to homeless people, worked in many orphanages, built two homes, worked closely with one village, had a Christmas party for that community, and most importantly came back changed people; changed people not only in ourselves, but also as a couple. I found a love in him I didn’t know I could humanly feel, and I am so privileged to get to watch as Will grows in his strength in Christ. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything so beautiful.”

“Will teaches me how to love a little more every day, and I think we are pretty blessed to have each other. What is so amazing is that God knew Will and I both way before we were ever even thought of, and he has been working in both of us, so that one day when we found each other, we would be able to show the world around us how to be the bride of Christ.”

“These next 3 months are going to be a crazy whirlwind but as long I as I can do it beside Will, I know I will get my happily ever after.”
